Winter holidays in St. Anton am Arlberg
The biggest ski resort in Austria
St. Anton is considered the cradle of alpine skiing – and has always been a top ski destination. In 1901 the first ski school was founded and in 2001 St. Anton impressed with hosting the World Ski Championships together with its top facilities. And since 2016, Ski Arlberg is the biggest connected ski resort in Austria and among the top five in the world.
Arlberg is a synonym for winter experience, the “bench mark” – a leading resort, where everyone can learn something… though admittedly it’s not quite so easy to copy the summits, the slopes, the hilltops…
Kids slopes with specially trained instructors? Sure! Carving areas? You bet! Snowboard Fun Park? Yuuup; with pro- jumps, washboard, table-top and lots more of the “fun stuff” !
460 km of descents, perfectly groomed pistes for all levels of ability, challenging steep slopes and deep powder snow runs, snowboard fun parks, carving areas, permanent race tracks and many cozy venues offer variety and enjoyment.
Fun is guarenteed during après-ski on the Arlberg – whether you like it traditionally or modern, in any event it’s 100% cool!
Skiing in this altitude is more snow-sure than in other regions but there’s also modern snowmaking systems. There’s 460 km of pistes for all levels of ability waiting, from small to X-large, family pistes and black difficult specialities, the Kandahar piste and some secret tips…
However the true paradise is off the pistes. After a short climb, you are usually right at the start of a deep snow descent. The Arlberg offers over 200 km of such descents – more than anywhere else in the Alps. Therefore St. Anton is also a mecca for freeriders. Experience and skill are necessary for safely riding off-piste.
The ski guides of St. Anton Classic will show you the hidden descents and help you improve your technique along the way. It is also necessary to learn the correct use of safety equipment. Your personal ski guide will help you to identify risks early so that you are prepared to deal with emergencies.
Modern cable cars and lifts
The cable cars and lifts are impressive. 87 modern lifts offer the highest standard of safety and comfort. A leading technology is the ARLBERG-CARD, a reusable high-tech ski pass which opens ski-lift entrances contactless. And the best part – you can obtain the ski pass without the hassle of queuing directly at the reception of the Schwarzer Adler. Spectacular: the Galzig cable car with its amazing big wheel entry and the glass valley station.
Ski guides & instructors
Nearly 400 local and internationally certified ski and snow sports instructors offer their experience in the ski resort and on the pistes. Whether you prefer skiing or snowboarding, beginner or advanced, cross-country skiing or fun sport, the ski instructors and ski guides are available for your individual snow experience.
A special service is our ski depot directly at the piste. As a guest of the Schwarzer Adler you can deposit your skis, snowboard and boots for free with our partner Intersport Arlberg. This means that you can start your ski day fully relaxed without having to carry your equipment. If you do not have your own gear, you can rent the latest equipment directly at Intersport Arlberg. There is 10% discount for online reservations.
